A Chemical Furnace is an upgraded Steam Furnace. The chemical furnace takes two refined materials to be fueled. Take note that two different materials must be used (e.g. one phosphorus in each slot won't start the process). The chemical furnace is twice as fast as a Furnace and one and a half times as fast as a Steam Furnace.
